It's been a week since I last saw 2 chicks in the nest; in fact it was the same day as my first blog post. They are growing amazingly fast, but the question of the week is... are there still 2 chicks? Even from the height of the roof, only a portion of the nest is visible, and it also seems to be quite deep. Possibly, the current size of the chicks prevents both from being visible at the same time. I will continue to watch for this. According to my guide book, there are typically 3-5 eggs in a GBH nest, so this was on the low end to start.
Some other critters are also hanging around - there is also a nest of Anhinga chicks (2 visible here), and the big gator who hangs out below.
